Australian legend Ricky Ponting is excited to see Babar Azam in action against Australia in Test series. He has warned his team and praised Babar Azam as he believes its the only matter of some time before the batsman improves his record across the formats of the cricket.
Despite Babar’s low average of just over 35 in 21 Test matches, two-time Word Cup winning Australia’s captain suggests he has plenty to show.
The Pakistan ace batsman is currently the ranked No. 1 and No. 3 in T20Is and ODIs respectively. He has scored a brilliant 157 runs against a strong side of Australia A in Perth last week.
“We haven’t seen the best of him yet,” Former captain Ponting told cricket.com.au. Twenty-odd Tests for an average of 35 – he’s better than that. He averages 54 in one-day cricket at a strike-rate of about 90.
“He’s a very, very classy player. He’s a really exciting talent and probably the guy I’m looking forward to seeing the most this summer. I’ve seen the Aussies a lot and I’ve seen a lot of the Kiwis, but I’m really excited to see him. He could be anything.”
