Doctor Sleep which tanked at box office as it fell well below expectations with an estimated $14.1 million. WB’s film could only manage to grab half of its expected box office numbers ($25M) on its debut.
The film is now running in 68 international markets as well. Doctor Sleep brought in an estimated $13 million this weekend for an overseas total that now stands at $20 million. Film opened in Russia this weekend where it grabbed around $2 million.
After falling outside of the top five for the weekend for the first time since its release, Joker accumulated another $9.2 million in this weekend to take its total to $313.5 million. From international markets WB’s flick collected around $20 million for a international cume that now stands at $671.2 million.
The super-villain film is now chasing $1 billion mark. Currently it is just over $15 million shy of touching that billion dollar club worldwide with a $984.7 million global total. WB’s Joker once reaches that $1 billion mark it will become only the fourth DC Comics adaptation to do so. Before Joker, Aquaman ($1.148b), The Dark Knight Rises ($1.84b) and The Dark Knight ($1.003b) have crossed that mark in the past.
