War rewrites record book with humongous 53.35 crore opening
War, one of the most anticipated and hyped movies of the year has finally arrived. The big opening day was on the cards right from its announcement but film exceeded all the expectations to become the best opener ever for not just Bollywood but also for Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff. The film borke many records at the box office with a hefty 53.35 crore start. It collected 51.6 crores in Hindi version.
Despite facing a dual clash at the box office from Joker and Sye Raa Narishmha Reddy, the film took full advantage of Gandhi Jayanti Holiday. YRF’s film also topped Salman Khan’s Bharat (42.3 crs) to become the highest opening day of 2019.
The Hrithik Roshan-Tiger Shroff starrer has taken an earth-shattering opening at the ticket counters to overtake Thugs Of Hindostan – collected 52.25 crores in all languages while in Hindi it earned 50.7 crores – to become the highest grosser for opening/single day.
It was last Diwali when Amir Khan-Amitabh Bachchan’s Thugs of Hindostan scored first ever 50 crores on a single day and perhaps no one would have thought that the record will be broke within a year then.
War will see a normal decline as it is coming from a holiday. 20+ crores on Day 2 would be fine to maintain its pace as the action-thriller will definitely grow over the weekend unless it crashes from Friday.
