‘The Lion King’ scores massive $78.5 Million on Friday
Disney’s The Lion King delivered a huge opening day the domestic box office as it collected $78.5 million. The film is on its way to grab at least $185 million in its opening weekend. Friday gross is Walt Disney’s biggest single-day gross in the history without a Star Wars or an MCU flick.
The Lion King could replace Incredibles 2 which delivered last year with $182.7 million. It could be ninth biggest North American launch ever. It will score the second-best opening of 2019 so far.
It has become the 10th highest opening day gross of all time. The film has already topped $192 million internationally as of Friday including $81 million from China where film released a week earlier.
