Nuwan Kulasekara retires from international cricket

Seamer Nuwan Kulasekara has announced his retirement from international cricket with immediate effect on Wednesday. Right arm bowler had last played for Sri Lanka in an ODI against Zimbabwe in Hambantota back in July 2017. Kulasekara made his ODI debut versus England in 2003.

Nuwan Kulasekara will end his career as the third-highest One Day International wicket-taker for his national side among pacemen and fifth-highest overall for Sri Lankan. He represented Sri Lanka cricket team in 184 ODI matches. Seamer took 199 ODI wickets at 33.92.

Kulasekara played 58 T20Is matches for Sri Lanka and took 66 wickets. He is the joint second-highest wicket-taker for Sri Lanka along with Ajantha Mendis and just behind Lasith Malinga. He was also a part of Sri Lankan team when they won the World T20 in 2014.

Nuwan Kulasekara made his Test debut in 2005 and. He played 21 Test matches and took 48 wickets. He had last represented Sri Lanka in Test cricket in way back 2014 against England at Lord’s.
