Usman Khawaja ruled out of Cricket World Cup 2019, Matthew Wade called up as a cover

Australia faced a big blow as Usman Khawaja has been ruled out of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 because of a hamstring injury. He was batting on 6 against South Africa when he felt bad with his hamstring which forced him to retire hurt. Matthew Wade, who is a wicketkeeper batsman, will join the team as Khawaja’s cover.

Matthew Wade is already in the UK with the Australia A team and he has been in great form having scored 355 runs in 4 one-day matches on the tour.

Marcus Stoinis also felt pain in his right side which makes him doubtful for the semi final against the Hosts, England. Mitchell Marsh has joined the Australian team as cover for Stoinis. Stoinis missed two games with a left side strain just two weeks ago.
