ICC Cricket World Cup 2019: England opener Jason Roy eyeing Australia return

Opening batsman Jason Roy is targeting to be ready for Australia’s match on Tuesday in Cricket World Cup 2019. According to Roy, his return will be managed “game by game”. He tore his hamstring last Friday in the defeat of West Indies and since then has missed the games against Afghanistan and Sri Lanka.

England have missed him badly in the both games, especially against Sri Lanka as Jonny Baristow and James Vince both failed to provide any start for the Hosts. They were beaten by Sri Lank in low-score game, England could not chase a small total of 232 against them.

In Jason Roy’s absence, England called James Vince, who opened against Afghanistan, a match where England set a new ODIs record of hitting 25 sixes in an innings. James Vince failed big time to give any sort of start that England would have hoped for.

England will meet for their next match with Australia on Tuesday, which is definitely a very crucial match now for them after the lost to Sri Lanka. World Cup Favourites need to win at least two of their remaining three matches in the tournament to qualify for the final four places.
