Australia leave Khawaja out for the fourth Ashes Test as Smith returns
Australia have left Usman Khawaja out for the fourth Ashes Test at Old Trafford. It was one the cards as Khawaja was struggling with batting form and more importantly Australia had to make for their best batsman Steve Smith who missed the third Ashes Test against England due to injury.
Concussion sub Marnus Labuschagne scored three consecutive fifties in the absence of Smith and that guaranteed him the spot for the important fourth Ashes Test. Former captain Steve Smith will slot back at No. 4 while Labuschagne will bat at No. 3.
Fast bowler James Pattinson has been rested with Peter Siddle and Mitchell Starc have been added in the squad for the must-win Test. It leaves three spots for the four fast bowlers which means one of them is going to miss out from the game. Australian allrounder Mitchell Marsh has been dropped from the squad.
