Left-hander Dhawan did not leave for New Zealand with his team on Monday.
Shoulder injury has ruled Shikhar Dhawan out of T20I series against New Zealand. Dhawan picked up the injury during th third and final One Day International game against Australia on Sunday which did not allow him to bat for his team.
The 34-year-old fell awkwardly, while trying to dive in order to stop Aaron Finch’s shot in Bengaluru versus Ausralia, on his left shoulder. Dhawan soon left the field clutching his injured shoulder.
Opening batsman’s replacement is yet to be named for a five-match T20 International series against the Kiwis in their backyard. The series will start from Friday, the five shorter version matches will be followed by three ODIs and a couple of Test matches.
