Shadab Khan, Isuru Udana, Alex Hales and Lasith Malinga among big gainers in CPL 2019 draft
English cricketer Alex Hales, Sri Lanka seamers Lasith Malinga and Isuru Udana and Pakistan’s leg spinner Shadab Khan were among the big earners in the 2019 Caribbean Premier League draft, bagging USD 160,000 each after being picked up in the first round. Opening batsman Alex Hales went to Barbados Tridents, Malinga to St Lucia Stars, and Udana to St Kitts & Nevis Patriots while Shadab Khan went to Guyana Amazon Warriors.
All rounder Dwayne Bravo and the dangerous Andre Russell were retained by Trinbago Knight Riders and Jamaica Tallawahs respectively. Knight Riders also retained the likes of Colin Munro, Sunil Narine, Khary Pierre and Denesh Ramdin while also managing to retain most of the core team from 2018.
As Euro T20 Slam clashes with the CPL, CPL regulars such as Rashid Khan, Brendon McCullum, Luke Ronchi and Chris Lynn have decided to play Euro T20 Slam. Jason Holder will be Barbados Tridents’ marquee player while Chris Gayle will return to his home franchise Tallawahs as their marquee name.
