Central Punjab has knocked down Northern to take the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy final at Karachi. Umar Akmal smoked a double century (218) with the help of 20 fours and 8 sixes. Before him, Azhar Ali struck a century for Central Punjab in reply of Northern’s 254 – Faheem Ashraf dismantled them with his five-wicket haul.
The Babar Azam led Central Punjab took a huge lead of 421 runs against Northern on the third day of their five-day final match of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy at National Stadium. Northern showed some fightback in their second innings as Haider Ali slammed a ton on Day 4.
While Rohail Nazir and Ali Sarfaraz scored half centuries. But they were under serious threat with Central Punjab’s first innings massive lead. Bilal Asif took his career best 8 for 112 in National Stadium to give his team the title.
Central Punjab won the final by an innings and 16 runs. Umar Akmal and Bilal Asif shared the Man of the Match award while Zafar Gohar was awarded with Player of the Tournament.
