Bangladesh Premier League franchise Chattogram Challengers announced that West Indies hard-hitting batsman Chris Gayle will play in the second half of the tournament. He is likely to feature in the BPL after January 4 – Chattogram will have three league round matches remaining.
“Chris Gayle has a hamstring niggle,” KM Rifatuzzaman, who is Chattogram’s managing director, told ESPNCricinfo said. “He will need a bit of time to be completely fit. He was always going to play in the BPL and even though we will not have him for the entire campaign, he will be available in the latter part.”
The BPL franchise had picked Windies’ opner at the BPL draft, held on November 17. The left-hander had claimed that he was not aware with his picking in the season’s tournament after one week.
Chris has featured in every single season of BPL till now and has played for five different teams. He was the part Rangpur Riders in the last two tournaments. Gayle has scored the most centuries in the history of BPL. His 146 in the 2017 final versus Dhaka Dynamites remains the highest-score till date.
