Breaking: Virat Kohli to lead the team against West Indies across formats
Cricket Indian have named their squads for the tour of West Indies. Their regular captain Virat Kohli to lead India across the formats against Windies. There were speculations about MS Dhoni’s retirement but according to the chief selector MSK Prasad, Dhoni made himself unavailable for the tour.
The news about split captaincy system for Indian cricket team has also been dismissed as BCCI named legend batsman Virat Kohli as Indian captain for all three forms of the cricket. Jasprit Bumrah have been rested from white ball forms of cricket, he will return for Test matches while Hardik Pandya have been rested from the whole tour.
Some changes have been made in ODI squad as they dropped Dinesh Karthik, who travelled with Indian side to England for World Cup 2019. Navdeep Saini has been named for both ODI and T20I squads. Rahul Chahar has also been named for T20I squad while Manish Pandey, Khaleel Ahmed and Shreyas Iyer have been recalled for ODI cricket versus Windies.
Shikhar Dhawan who left the Cricket World Cup 2019 midway due to his thumb injury, has also made his return to both ODI and T20I sides. However all rounder Vijay Shankar is still not fully fit to play.
In Test squad Wriddhiman Saha made his comeback after a year. Rishabh Pant will be the second wicketkeeper in the squad for red ball cricket. The spin department comprises of Ravi Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav and Ravi Jadeja.
