Breaking: Vijay Shankar ruled out of Cricket World Cup
Vijay Shankar has been ruled out of Cricket World Cup 2019 with broken toe. He had played three matches for India in the tournament. Shankar scored 58 runs and also took two wickets and missed the game against England on Sunday.
Mayank Agarwal is the replacement for Vijay Shankar for the rest of the tournament. Mayank, who has never played a one-day international but made his Test debut last year. India are yet to confirm their spot for the knockout stage.
Vijay Shankar was hit on the foot by Jasprit Bumrah with his yorker during a training drill. India still need to win against the Bangladesh or in their final game versus Sri Lanka in order to guarantee their place in the semi-finals.
Before all-rounder, India lost their opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan for the tournament with fractured thumb.
