Breaking: Sri Lanka’s visit to Pakistan go-ahead announced
The Sri Lanka’s cricket board said the tour will go ahead as planned despite fears that players could be the targets of terror attacks during a six-match trip after assurances from the Pakistan government on September 19.
“The Pakistan High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, on behalf of the Pakistan Government, has reaffirmed to the Sri Lankan government Pakistan’s desire to provide the Sri Lankan National Team with the same level of security as that provided to a head of state,” SLC Secretary Mohan De Silva stated.
Sri Lanka are scheduled to play six limited-over matches in Pakistan from September 27 to October 9. Their ten players have opted out of the tour including Lasith Malinga, who is Sri Lanka’s captain in shorter format of the game and their best batsman Angelo Mathews.
