Box Office: Toy Story 4 earns $118 Million on debut
The fourth film in Pixar’s animated series earned $120 million at box office when it debuted in 4,575 theaters in North America. Though it was franchise’s largest opening weekend but fell well short of the studio’s $140+ million expectations. The overall weekend haul is significantly below expectations despite the rave reviews.
Toy Story 4’ is now the fourth-biggest launch for an animated movie behind Incredibles 2 ($182 million), Finding Dory ($135 million) and Shrek the Third ($121 million). Toy Story 4 collected $120 million form 37 International markets and that makes a $238 million worldwide launch.
Mexico, was the top market, the film opened with an estimated $23.4 million, making it the third highest opening of all-time in the Country behind just Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Infinity War. UK was the second biggest opening with $15 million followed by China ($13.4m), Brazil ($9.6m), Korea ($8.5m), Argentina ($6.9m) and Australia ($6.1m).
