Box Office: Ford v Ferrari tops the weekend charts, Joker crosses $1 billion worldwide

Ford v Ferrari has topped the box office weekend charts with an estimated $31 million from North America. The performance of Fox’s film is well ahead of pre-weekend expectations. The film received mostly positive reviews that helped it to do well at box office.

Ford v Ferrari brought in $21.4 million from 41 markets for a $52 million worldwide launch. Fox’s Ford v Ferrari served as the film’s top international box office market with a $3.2 million weekend. Additionally, the film has seen openings in the UK ($2.3m), France ($2.3m), Australia ($1.7m), Italy ($1.3m) and Mexico ($1.1m). Fox’s Ford v Ferrari will be released in Korea on December 5 and on January 10 in Japan.

On the other hand, Joker has finished in top ten best earners from North America with an estimated $5.6 million to take its domestic grand total to $300.6 million. WB’s film has just become DC’s fourth inclusion in the $1 billion club. Joker became the only R-rated film to hit the $1 billion and 7th film of the year to achieve that target.

Joker has left The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring ($313m), Thor: Ragnarok (315m), Harry Potter and The sorcerer’s Stone ($317m) and Iron Man ($318m) in domestic market.

Intertnationally, the Warner Bros. film has collected around $13 million. The foreign cume now stands at $694 million. The film’s worldwide total is $1.017 billion. The film has now surpassed The Dark Knight ($1.004b) to become DC’s third-biggest global earner ever behind The Dark Knight Rises ($1.081b) and Aquaman ($1.148b). Joker currently sits on 43d position among all-time highest global gorsser.
