Babar Azam, Mohammad Hafeez hit half-centuries as Pakistan clinch series

Pakistan need to complete clean-sweep over Bangladesh to remain the top side in T20I rankings.

Pakistan defeated Bangladesh in second T20 International at Lahore to seal the series. This was their first series win this format since 2018. The visitors, batting first for the second time in the series, set a below par target of 137.

Shaheen Shah Afridi sent opener Mohammad Naim early in the innings to give Pakistan a chance to restrict the opposition again. Mehdi Hasan did not take too much time to join Naim in dugout as he got a top-edge off Mohammad Hasnain bowling. Hasnain was showing excellence with ball on Gaddafi Stadium’s pitch.

Tamim Iqbal once again shone with his 65 off 53 balls in second match against Pakistan. The next best run scorer was Afif Hossain, who only managed to score 21. Shaheen, Hasnain and Haris Rauf were brilliant with their pace and bounce. The trio of quicks conceded only 69 runs in 12 overs and took 4 scalps.

In reply, the hosts lost Ahsan Ali for a seven ball duck to Shafiul Islam in second over. Captain Babar Azam and senior all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez had a task to take their team on a safe position. The duo looked very comfortable with playing some glorious shots around the wickets.

Both Babar and Hafeez smoked their fifties in chasing with ease. The pair built an unbeaten partnership of 131 which proved enough to their side over the line. Pakistan have knocked down Tigers by 9 wickets to go up 2-0.
