‘Avengers: Endgame’ leaves ‘Avatar’ behind, becomes the top box office hit of all time
Avengers: Endgame ($2,790.2) finally has left Avatar ($2,789.7) behind and became the highest grossing worldwide Hollywood movie of all time. After Avatar’s impressive 10-year reign as box office King, Avengers: Endgame has finally beaten James Cameron’s sci-fi epic to become the biggest movie in the history.
Superhero flick has amassed $853 million at the domestic box office. It is the second-highest grossing film in North America just behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($936 million). Overseas the movie collected a mighty $1.9 billion helped especially by strong performances in China ($629 million), the United Kingdom ($114 million), South Korea ($105 million), Brazil ($85 million) and Mexico ($77 million).
MCU’s Avengers: Endgame set many box office records since opening in April. The superhero movie holds the title for biggest global debut with $1.2 billion (opening weekend), highest domestic launch with $357 million and biggest overseas bow with $866 million.
Avengers: Endgame was the 22nd entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film stars Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Brie Larson, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Paul Rudd and others.
